History

Conny Van Ehlsing was first developed as a supporting character for Vaehling’s satiric superhero comic Reception Man, in early 2000. In this comic, recently re-issued in English with the title Supefied, Reception Man meets a teenage vampire hunter who saves him from a vampire.

Soon after that, Vaehling wrote the first real Conny Van Ehlsing story, re-introducing her as a six year old girl who begins fighting monsters on her first day of school. It wasn’t until 2004, though, that Vaehling decided to turn Conny into a regular series.

The German series, called Monsterjägerin Conny Van Ehlsing, debuted online in 2005 in LOA magazine. Since then, Conny has appeared sporadically in LOA as well as in several print magazines, including PLOP, Underdog and cOMIc (Germany), Kaufzwang (Switzerland) and Das Schubfach (Brazil). Since the beginning of 2007, English translations have been published at Webcomics Nation, with various schedules, finally settling on a schedule of one page (or drawing) every Friday.
